Our Revival Labours – Youths & Singles Retreat

1. O worship the king, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing His power and His love;
Our shield and defender, the ancient of days,
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

2.O tell of His might, O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space;
His chariots of wrath the deep thunder-clouds form,
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.

3. Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

4. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;
Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
Our maker, defender, redeemer, and friend!

5. O measureless might, ineffable love,
While angels delight to hymn thee above,
Thy humbler creation, thought feeble their lays,
With true adoration shall sing to thy praise.

2 Kings 5 verses 1 - 4 (Amplified Version) says, 1 Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram (Syria), was considered a great man by his king, and was highly respected because through Naaman the Lord had given victory to Aram (Syria). He was also a man of courage, but he was a leper. 2 The Arameans (Syrians) had gone out in bands [as raiders] and had taken captive a little girl from the land of Israel; and she waited on Naaman’s wife [as a servant]. 3 She said to her mistress, “I wish that my master [Naaman] were with the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would heal him of his leprosy.” 4 Naaman went in and told his master [the king], “The girl who is from the land of Israel said such and such.”

Ecclesiastes 12 verse 1 (The Living Bible) says, don’t let the excitement of being young cause you to forget about your Creator. Honor him in your youth before the evil years come—when you’ll no longer enjoy living.

The girl in Naaman’s story to my understanding must have been a teenager who had been taught in the admonition of the Lord. She must have been living her life daily for the Lord and was so grounded in her faith that she was bold and courageous enough to share it with her mistress who then shared it with her husband.
This girl can be described as someone who did not forget the God of Israel and though in slavery, yet she still remembered him. She had consistent and persistent faith which was grounded, and which made her not to waver nor compromise even when she was not in her homeland.

  • Lord we commit all our teenagers and young people into your hand, please come and prepare their hearts to make it fertile for your word as they attend this year’s retreat in Jesus name.
  • Holy Spirit we ask that you come afresh upon all our teenagers and youth at this time so they will continually live for Jesus in Jesus name.
  • Holy Spirit please come and manifest yourself in the lives of all our teenagers and youth like you did in the life of the Israelite girl  so they will be grounded in their faith in Jesus name.
  • We ask O Lord that you grant them boldness and courage to share the message of the salvation message wherever they find themselves in Jesus name.
  • We plead with you Lord this morning on behalf of all our teenagers and youth, may they never forget the price you paid on the Cross for them in Jesus name.
  • Lord, as they prepare for this year’s retreat, we ask that you will through your Holy Spirit give them the grace to be consistent and persistent in their faith.
  • Holy Spirit we beg of you please put a deep hunger and thirst for the word of God and for his presence upon the heart of each of our teenagers and youths in Jesus name.
  • We ask this morning that wherever our teenagers or youths find themselves (in schools, colleges, universities or anywhere outside their homes), they will never compromise their faith in Jesus name. Please uphold them with your right hand O Lord we beg of you in Jesus name.
  • We declare that they will honour you dear Father in their youth in Jesus name. The excitement of their life will never overshadow their faith and belief in you in Jesus name.
  • We pray for all our unbelieving teenagers and youths that they will encounter the Cross and receive the salvation of or Lord Jesus Christ in Jesus name.

Exodus 1 verses 15 – 21 (Amplified Version) 15 Then the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah (beauty) and the other named Puah (splendor), 16 “When you act as midwives to the Hebrew women and see them on the birthstool, if it is a son, you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, she shall live.” 17 But the midwives feared God [with profound reverence] and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded, but they let the boy babies live. 18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, “Why have you done this thing, and allowed the boy babies to live?” 19 The midwives answered Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth quickly and their babies are born before the midwife can get to them.” 20 So God was good to the midwives, and the people [of Israel] multiplied and became very strong. 21 And because the midwives feared God [with profound reverence], He established families and households for them.
Shiphrah and Puah were midwives that feared the Lord, we were told they had profound reverence (deep respect/honor and awe reserved) for Him. I believe they were young ladies who made up their minds not to follow the instructions of king Pharaoh. They could have obeyed him and would have been rewarded for it but they knew in their heart that the King of Kings was to be obeyed rather than a human king.  God also granted them the grace to stand firm as they prevented the death of the boy babies. The Lord rewarded these young ladies because of what they had done and he established families and households for them. He was good to Shiphrah and Puah and settled them martially making sure they got Godly homes.

  • Lord we pray for every single woman in our midst or known to us that you grant them inner strength like Anna in Jesus name.
  • We pray for total commitment for our single women, hearts sold out to God and nothing else in Jesus name.
  • We beg for grace on behalf of our single women, Lord please grant them the heart of prayer in Jesus name.
  • We beg of you that your spirit of worship will come upon our single women and they will tarry with your word daily in Jesus name.
  • We pray for all our single women O Lord, please come through for them in Jesus name. We pray that they will see the manifestation of the promise of God in their lives in Jesus name.
