Youth Retreat 2018, Theme: Led by His Spirit, Romans 8:11

Hymn

1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

3. Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

5. Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

What are the Promises of God/ His word that we are standing on according to the lyrics of our hymn, we have several promises/ words, but this afternoon we are going to reference some of them.

The theme of the retreat this year culled from Romans 8:14, which says “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” It takes a leading of the Spirit, not by Power not by might.

Prayer
  • Father we commit your youth unto your hands afresh during this retreat, they will be led by the Holy Spirit, not by man, or anything else for that matter.
  • Pray that they will have a void that they would want to fill with an insatiable thirst of the Holy Spirit like never before.
  • Pray that all the teachers will be led by the Holy Spirit, not by educational qualification or SELF.
  • Pray that after our youth have had an encounter with Calvary by the teachings they would be impacted with, the promise in 1 Timothy 4:12 that no one would be able to look down on them, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and Purity, they will show themselves as examples of those who believe.
  • Pray that our children will have an encounter with the Cross, that will make them flee from evil “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and Peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart”(2 Timothy 2:22).
  • Pray for Both Physical and Spiritual strength for all the volunteers especially the sisters in the hospitality team, all they shall do will be by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
  • Pray for Wisdom, abundant grace of God, strength from within for Pastor Tayo and Pastor Yetunde, they will not be discouraged, and that God will continue to uphold them and lead them by His Spirit.
  • Pray for journey mercies, there shall be no incidences/ bad news, no emergencies.
